Systematics and Economic Botany provides solid foundations in plant groups and how these differ from one another. It builds on biological knowledge and skills to identify and classify flowering plants into taxonomic groups through a series of field and laboratory investigations. Moreover, this module focuses on perspectives and strategies of learning and teaching ecologically and economically important flora and crops found in Rwanda and in the region.
This module aims to introduce students to quantitative methods applied to biology. The content mainly includes data analysis and presentation, uni- and multivariate statistical analysis, hypothesis formulation, testing and validation. In addition, students will be exposed to interpretation of statistical results from biology case studies and strategies of biostatistics teaching and learning.
