This module is aimed to provide students with a basic understanding of the biotechnology industry. It deals with the major elements of the global significance of biotechnology, types of biotechnology, biotechnology processes and products, in the context of "traditional" vs "modern" biotechnology. It introduces students on different biotechnology techniques and how to apply these techniques in bioprocessing, gene, therapy medicine, agriculture, and forensics, etc.
