In this course, we discuss the processes, methods, techniques and tools that organizations use to determine how they should conduct their business, with a particular focus on how computer-based technologies can most effectively contribute to the way business is organized. The course covers a systematic methodology for analysing a business problem or opportunity, determining what role, if any, computer based technologies can play in addressing the business need, articulating business requirements for the technology solution, specifying alternative approaches to acquiring the technology capabilities needed to address business requirements, and specifying the requirements for the information systems solution in particular, in-house development, development from third-party providers, or purchased commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) packages.
Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary approach to design, implementation and evaluation that holds the key to the successful development of complex human-made systems. This course explores a framework encapsulating the entire systems engineering discipline, clearly showing where the multitude of associated activities fits within the overall effort and how the activities relate to one another.
This module aims at providing students with ability to analyse functions of modern government, government budget, type of tax systems, Rwandan public finance and employment income tax. Students will be able to analyse the government’s influence on economic efficiency, income distribution and economic growth and to apply the Rwandan tax laws and regulations in assessing the activities of various taxpayers.

This module aims to equip ELM students with knowledge, attitudes and skills related to adult learning theories, philosophies, and trends in nursing education. Students will analyze how learning outcomes in nursing practice are influenced by the orientation, characteristics, and actions of those who teach and learn, as well as the resources and constraints within each context where the teaching and learning processes occur. The students will become more reflective of their own learning and practices to facilitate adult learners, manage classes, become role models in both educational and clinical settings.

To acquaint students interested in soil science, the tropics, chemistry, water science, the environment, agriculture, and natural resources with the meaningful, applied study of soils of the tropics. This course will provide students with necessary theoretical and practical knowledge and understanding concerning properties of soils in the tropics and their management for wise environmental stewardship and food production. Moreover, analytical laboratory techniques, scientific report writing skills, familiarity with and appreciation for the tropical soil science literature, and critical thinking skills will be learned and reinforced in this course.
Students will develop advanced skills in caring for medically fragile neonates and their families and care of high-risk neonates within the context of the family unit. Emphasis is placed on the role of the Advanced Practice Neonatal Nurse/midwife in improving services to high-risk neonates with the purpose of decreasing mortality and morbidity rates and improving the quality of life of high-risk newborns.
