AM80166: Mathematics for Engineers I
Semester 1

The aim of this module is to provide a link between school mathematics and that required for engineering. The module is composed by 4 parts including calculus on  functions of one real variable, numerical and function series, introduction to matrix theory as well as elements of vector spaces.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Apply fundamental mathematical concepts, including algebra, functions, trigonometry, matrices, and calculus, to solve problems encountered in computer science and engineering.
  2. Analyze mathematical models and computational problems using appropriate analytical and numerical techniques, and interpret the results in the context of computing applications.
  3. Use mathematical reasoning and computational tools to formulate, solve, and communicate solutions to real-world problems in programming, data analysis, algorithm design, and software development.
